Reliability and Maintenance Engineer
Location: Midlothian, Texas (Ellis County)
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Position: salaried
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Maintenance and Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving the facility's manufacturing performance by reducing machine downtime and unscheduled maintenance through improved equipment reliability and development and implementation of improvement projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides maintenance support to all aspects of the manufacturing process in accordance with cGMP guidelines, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and all internal operating procedures.
Improves the performance of production lines by using effective preventative maintenance, timely problem solving, equipment improvements, and training of production/maintenance personnel as needed.
Identify and support the implementation of processes, technologies, and systems to achieve and sustain optimal asset utilization.
Support the implementation of company and plant goals and objectives (i.e. Responsible Care, RC-14001, operations improvement initiatives).
Continuously improve plant reliability and maintenance, production process, cost performance by determining and addressing the root cause of failures and leading projects around it.
Management Team ? actively participate in management meetings (strategy, goals, objectives, priority setting to meet company safety, environmental and financial objectives).
Analyze existing systems with regard to their technical reliability and safety and implement recommendations for improvement.
Develop and maintain technical standards for process and auxiliary equipment and promote and monitor standardization.
Ensure equipment Preventative Maintenance program is in alignment with RAGAGEP and national codes like NFPA, NEC, API, ASME by working with Maintenance Manager.
Work with Operations and Maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and repair process and equipment upsets.
Ability to assist in developing an effective preventative maintenance program is expected. Productivity improvements are also expected as a result of utilizing process tools and knowledge of system capability.
Supervise engineering consultants, plant personnel in preparation of P&IDs, equipment drawings, equipment maintenance files, PM/PdM procedures and spec sheets.
Audit Plant systems to ensure good practice reliability practices are followed.
Lead plant capital maintenance projects through the full project cycle.
Build maintenance procedures and train maintenance personnel in best maintenance practices.
Provide technical assistance for assigned projects from conception and/or design through estimation, bid review and recommendation, installation, start up and maintenance engineering support.
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor and Planner/Scheduler by providing technical guidance and support.
Ensure tasks are executed at the most effective time to improve availability and reliability of plant machinery and equipment.
Work with Maintenance Manager and Planner and Scheduler to develop and communicate reliability priorities.
Establish and/or maintain Inspection, Test, Preventative, and Predictive Maintenance Plan for all process equipment pieces systems.
Identify and quantify the stake for reliability issues. Lead root cause analysis of equipment failures, communicate finding, and implement long term solutions for failure prevention and equipment life extension.
Work with maintenance manager to maintain and communicate key Maintenance Metrics to the Operations and Maintenance teams and solicit support for making improvements.
Monitor and coach others on the utilization of maintenance and reliability tools, processes and best practices.
Develop and implement reliability work processes/standard operating and Maintenance procedures.
Work with the Corporate Resource Team to learn and share information and key learning.
Environmental, Safety and Health Responsibilities
Gain a thorough working knowledge of Chemtrade Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures.
Serve as the ES&H representative to plant personnel through communication and enforcement of ES&H policies and procedures.
Provide leadership through participation in ES&H initiatives and programs.
Actively drive the recognition and rewarding of positive ES&H performance by plant personnel.
Ensure that ES&H action items are effectively accomplished and tracked to closure.
Participate in ES&H meetings and training forums.
Respond to ES&H incidents through prompt and thorough reporting, incident investigation, and root cause identification and action item implementation.
Assist in tracking and communication of ES&H performance metrics.
Provide input to improve ES&H performance compared to metrics.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
Strong knowledge base on rotating piece of equipment like pumps, agitators and seals, powder handling equipment etc required
Centrifuge, rotatory dryer, and boiler experience preferred.
Minimum five years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical, food, chemicals, paper and pulp or petrochemical industry.
Experience has to be in a manufacturing plant environment. Good technical capability and detailed oriented approach is a requirement to execute reliability programs effectively.
Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong technical writing skills.
Should be able to communicate with the subject matter experts and analyze the technologies to get best possible results.
Committed to continuous improvement of safety, environment, customer service, operations and quality performance.
Knowledgeable and effective in the use of standard computer software programs and database systems; SAP, Microsoft Suit, SharePoint etc.
Strong understating of the plant safety principles and practices. Knowledge of PSM practices will be a plus.
Should be able to lead mechanical and electrical reliability programs.
An effective team player with good interpersonal skills.
Strong presentation, technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to initiate plans and carry out all assignments professionally, diligently and expeditiously in accordance with established company procedures.
