Summary

Performs general accounting duties and responsibilities. Prepares and maintains annual budget. Directly supervises accounting assistant performing A/P and payroll processes. Provides cost data to various departments as needed. Performs month end closing and reporting. Regularly exposed to confidential information requiring appropriate discretion.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares annual budget and reconciles capital expenditures.
  • Prepares production and cost reports on monthly basis.
  • Performs reconciliation of raw material, work in process and finished goods reports.
  • Create and transmit daily shipping report.
  • Performs month-end closing by providing general ledger reconciliation and preparing journal entries and accruals.
  • Provides accounting support for A/P and payroll systems.
  • Enter and submit wage and salary payroll.
  • Supervises and/or directly performs the review/approval of A/P invoices for completeness and accuracy.
  • Receives, disburses and balances the petty cash fund.
  • Maintains plant equipment list, fixed asset list.
  • Maintains licenses and titles of plant vehicles.
  • Maintains attendance records.
  • Establishes, communicates and assigns job responsibilities for administrative assistant.
  • Maintains filing and plant records as they pertain to accountant position.
  • Extensive knowledge of plant office responsibilities including payroll processing, accounting procedures, etc.
  • Strategic planning, decision making, communication and organization skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to utilize various software programs to maintain accurate records and generate reports.

Education

  • Four-year college degree (B. S. or B. A. degree), CPA preferred or equivalent experience in a similar position.

Experience

  • Three or more years of experience in a similar position.
